DEVILDRIVER: Swinging The Dead
July 22, 2003DEVILDRIVER (formerly DEATHRIDE),the new Santa Barbara, California-based project featuring ex-COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara, are tentatively set to release their much-anticipated debut album, "Straight To Hell", in October through Roadrunner Records.
"Now that the DEVILDRIVER album is complete, we will be receiving mixes from numerous individuals to determine who will be mixing the album," Fafara writes on the band's web site. "We are excited to hear these mixes, and cannot wait for everything to move forward. We are also very pleased and proud to announce that a good friend of mine — the world renown[ed] tattoo artist, the infamous and dark, Paul Booth — will be doing the artwork for the album, and is also working on band logos as well.
"Again, the album title is 'Straight To Hell'. I have been asked many times if there is a theme to this album, and yes, there is a theme - If anybody is familiar with the story of 'Faust', the album would be somewhere along the lines of that. Everyone sells their soul for something, we have sold our soul for our art. There will be 12 songs on the album, and we are looking for an October release...however, that hasn't yet been finalized.
"We are looking forward to bringing you something different, unique, something not heard before. This art has many influences, and we'd like to paint a very vivid picture in your mind. Influences such as black metal, death metal, and hardcore thrash, as well as strict heavy metal groove have all been put together into the picture. If you want to check out a little something, we have a song called 'Swinging The Dead' on the upcoming 'Freddy Vs Jason' soundtrack. You can [click here] to check it out."
DEVILDRIVER will team up with DANZIG and SUPERJOINT RITUAL for the fall 2003 installment of the "Blackest Of The Black" tour, tentatively set to kick off in early October.
